About Performance :

This is the first performance of a blazing masterpiece “Ali and Nino”, by Kurban Said in the history of Georgian theatre.

The Universe is born with pain and suffering.  The confrontation of people with different views splits it into different worlds, Christian and Muslim, which stand face to face with each other with all their traditions and culture. Both of them prove their superiority and truth. In this world, full of contradictions, love is born between a Muslim boy – Ali Khan Shirvanshir and a beautiful Christian girl – Nino Kipiani. Ali is madly in love with his country, he can’t even breathe without Asia. At this time, Nino Kipiani is a free woman with distinctly European sensibilities. Both of them reflect the passion of the Eastern and  the Western cultures, showing that in times of joy and despair, love can rise above the ideology and centuries-old hatred. Their religious and cultural incompatibility was accompanied by many other contradictions, that the lovers had to overcome.

In the finale the fate unites this two worlds, with the help of love, as the universe is one  whole and to split it by the different religions can be devastating. Ali’s father, the wise man, says:

“Each nation believes that they have a God all to themselves and he is the one and only God. But I believe that we all come from one God and shall all return to him. Thus one must not do anything, that might hurt anybody anywhere in the world”.

The performance was dedicated to the 100th   anniversary of the independence of the both countries, -Georgia and Azerbaijani republic.
