Nobleman Darispan Qarsidze is a father of four daughters but he can’t no longer keep them and so he is trying to find husbands for them and get rid of them. Darispan is taking his eldest daughter Karozhna from door to door to his friends, relatives in order to meet young man. Darispan is rather tragic but at the same time funny person, who does not give up his pride and boasting. He meets the poor noblemen who are in the same situation having problems with unmarried daughters. Whenever young man appears, everyone is trying to be acquainted with him and make him marry his daughter. While behaving like this, noblemen do not even notice that they are hurting their daughters. Depressed and ashamed Karozhna tries committing a suicide using his father’s khabalakhi (national hat), but this happens only in a moment…
Different actors are playing the same characters. One Darispan is followed by another one, one Marta - by another Marta and so on. Different Marta, Pelagia, Darispan, Karozhna and other characters’ point to the fact that the problems described in this play are not belonging only to one person or one character… The simplicity of David Kldiashvili’s works, tragedy and humor makes the play very light and very painful at the same time.
